Unified Communications

Lync is a brilliant application. Its just that good. I was touched by a recent comment from one of our Lync Users. The comment was "Can you imagine life without Lync?"  For lync fanatics this means a lot. For anyone who is this much in love with Lync, if it fails to log on then you can imagine the comments and questions that follows...

Ask any who has used and fallen in love with Lync. Iam yet to discover another application that rivals Lync. But that is debate for another day. Today let us try and if I can give you instructions to help you get your Lync working again.

This troubleshopting guide assumes that you are using Lync on Windows XP and Vista, 7 or 8. For Mac I have got no idea how lync works on Mac. To understand how to get Lync to login successfully. You need to understand how lync logs you.

When Lync is set to automatically detect settings, Lync will use sip address to determine the server used to log you in. i.e This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. The domain portion of the sip address which is learnersportal.co.za is used to query the Lync Server required to present the credentials.

Lync will append the following names and perform DNS lookups to determine the server.

Lyncdiscover.yourdomain.com

Sip.yourdomain.com

sipexternal.domain.com
